James Dwyer, vice chancellor for University Business Services, received the Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Legacy Award from NACAS, the National Association of College Auxiliary Services.

Dwyer was honored for his leadership and service to NACAS. The award is named after Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr., one the founders and the first president of NACAS. It is given to honor an auxiliary/ancillary services professional or business partner member who demonstrates Dr. Lassiter’s leadership qualities and his commitment to volunteerism and community service.

“It is an honor to be recognized,” Dwyer said. “I believe in the importance of building relationships. When we volunteer our time to organizations like NACAS, we develop not only relationships with colleagues across the nation, but we also influence others through our shared experiences and mentorship.”

He currently serves as treasurer of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) Foundation and is an at-large member of the national NACAS Board of Directors.

At WashU, his portfolio covers much of the behind-the-scenes work of running a university, such as dining, parking and transportation, mail services, the bookstore, supply chain management, supplier engagement and development, as well as operation of Edison Theatre, the 560 Music Center, the Charles F. Knight Executive Education and Conference Center and the Whittemore House.

Dwyer previously served as assistant vice president for auxiliary business services at Arizona State University.
